Digital Thermography

What is Digital Infrared Thermography?

Infrared Thermography, thermal imaging, thermographic imaging, or thermal video, is a type of infrared imaging science. Thermographic cameras detect radiation in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum and produce images of that radiation. Since infrared radiation is emitted by all objects based on their temperatures, according to the black body radiation law, thermography makes it possible to “see” one’s environment with or without visible illumination. The amount of radiation emitted by an object increases with temperature, therefore thermography allows one to see variations in temperature (hence the name). When viewed by thermographic camera, warm objects stand out well against cooler backgrounds.

Fast, safe and accurate  non-contact measurements can be obtained from objects even if they are moving or very hot, difficult to reach, expensive to shut-down, or dangerous to contact.  Our system makes the invisible, visible and helps pinpoint potential problem areas faster than any other measurement tool. A failing steam trap, a leaking regulating valve, or an un-seated isolation valve can not only waste energy dollars, but cause unscheduled shutdowns and downtime. A hot spot on the rear door of a firetube boiler or a hot spot on the rear wall of a watertube boiler can mean a shutdown is coming. A hot spot on a deaerator or feed tank can mean metal failure is imminent.

Let us help you head off potential problems or simply put your mind at ease. Our detailed analysis and report to you, helps you know where to target your energy project and maintenance dollars.
